During the month of November, attacks by ISIS cells increased in northern and eastern Syria.
On November 2, ISIS mercenaries attacked a checkpoint of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the town of Abu Hamam in the eastern countryside of the Deir ez-Zor canton. The attack with medium weapons resulted in clashes, in which no casualties were reported.
On November 3, ISIS members on a motorcycle attacked the home of a Transportation Authority official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in the town of Cedidet Igêdat, east of the Deir ez-Zor Canton. No damage was caused in the attack.
On November 4, ISIS militants attacked an SDF military post in the town of Ziban, east of Deir ez-Zor, with RPGs. Clashes ensued, but it was not possible to determine whether there were any casualties.
On November 5, ISIS militants with automatic weapons attacked the home and business of a merchant who refused to pay what they called “alms”. Material damage occurred in the ensuing clashes.
On November 7, ISIS members attacked a petrol tanker with automatic weapons near the Ezbe oil field north of Deir ez-Zor and fled. There were no casualties.
On November 8, an explosive device planted by ISIS cells detonated during a SDF patrol on the road to the city of El-Susê in eastern Deir ez-Zor. No casualties were reported.
On November 13, ISIS militants attacked an oil tanker in the town of El-Tekihi, north of Deir ez-Zor, causing material damage.
On the same day, the mercenaries targeted another tanker near the town of El-Shihil in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, injuring the tanker driver and causing material damage.
ISIS militants moving from the western bank of the Euphrates River, which is under the control of the Syrian Transitional Government Forces, from the Subeyxan region, and from the desert between the cities of Al-Bukemal and Al-Mayadin, entered the town of Abu Hamam and attacked an SDF checkpoint. The SDF responded and the attackers retreated.
On November 16, ISIS members attacked Baghouz Co-Mayor Ehmed El-Tuma. The attack resulted in material damage.
On the same day, ISIS members attacked and killed a member of the Internal Security Forces on the road between the towns of Muheymidê and El Meamil in western Deir ez-Zor.
ISIS members also attacked the headquarters of the Internal Security Forces in the town of Ziban, east of Deir ez-Zor. The attack did not result in casualties.
On November 18, fire was opened on an Internal Security Forces checkpoint in the village of El-Bisêra, located in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. There were no casualties.
On November 19, ISIS mercenaries opened fire on a vehicle carrying young people at the Helebiyê intersection in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The attack did not result in casualties.
On the same day, ISIS members targeted SDF positions with two UAVs using Syrian government forces’ positions in the vicinity of the village of Xanim El Ali. The UAVs were shot down by the SDF.
On November 20, ISIS militants targeted an SDF position in the town of Ziban, east of Deir ez-Zor, with firearms, which did not result in casualties.
On November 21, ISIS militants targeted an SDF position in the town of Ziban, east of Deir ez-Zor, with grenades. A clash ensued, but there were no casualties.
On the same day, ISIS members targeted an Internal Security Forces checkpoint in the town of Ebreyha with firearms. The ensuing fighting did not result in casualties.
On November 21, ISIS militants attacked an SDF position with medium weapons, followed by clashes around the town of Shusa in eastern Deir ez-Zor.
On November 24, ISIS militants targeted an SDF vehicle in the town of Cedidet Igêdar, east of Deir ez-Zor, wounding an SDF fighter.
On the same day, ISIS members targeted an SDF vehicle advancing towards the El Cefra oil field with weapons, but no damage was caused.
On November 28, ISIS members fired a rocket at an SDF vehicle in the town of Mehmida in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor. A clash ensued after the attack, but there were no casualties.
In 22 attacks carried out in the month of November, one member of the Internal Security Forces was killed, while one SDF fighter and one civilian were injured.
The total number of attacks carried out by ISIS cells against northern and eastern Syria since the beginning of the year has reached 224, with the vast majority of attacks taking place in the Deir ez-Zor countryside.
