According to information obtained by ANHA, forces affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government, together with unidentified armed groups, carried out large-scale detentions in the village of Mutearid in the eastern countryside of Homs. The seizure of dozens of residents has created deep fear throughout the village.
Eyewitnesses reported that armed elements detained more than fifty young and elderly people from the Ebûd, Xerfan and Şehod families, all of whom are from the same village. According to the accounts shared, some civilians were allegedly subjected to electric torture during the detentions, further heightening families’ fears regarding the fate of their loved ones.
Sources stated that the internet outage in the village has made it difficult for residents to reach legal authorities or news agencies. It was also reported that, during the raids, many young people were forced to flee into open areas nearby for their own safety.
The names of some detainees were reported as follows: Ebduletîf Salih Ebûd, Hanîn Ebduletîf Ebûd and his wife, Fîras Ebduletîf Ebûd, Wîsam Silêman Ebûd, Mihemed Silêman Ebûd and Beşar Hermoş.
Residents of the village have called on international news agencies and legal institutions to intervene, urging an immediate investigation into the raids, the release of those detained and full clarity regarding their fate. Families are demanding that the whereabouts of their relatives be disclosed without delay.
