Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır met with residents during a public gathering held in the Merkezefendi district of Denizli. The event, organized at the Merkezefendi 100th Year Youth Center, was attended by officials from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Denizli branch, district organizations, members of the DBP Aegean and İzmir representations, as well as many local residents.
Bayındır emphasized that nearly a year has passed since Abdullah Öcalan’s Peace and Democratic Society Call. He said, “Our struggle has continued alongside our Leader since 1978. Throughout this period, we have made dozens of attempts to achieve a democratic and peaceful solution to the Kurdish question. The resistance we developed against 200 years of denial and assimilation policies, through our 52-year-long struggle, has changed this fate.”
Despite oppression, the struggle has grown
Bayındır underlined that the architect of the struggle is Abdullah Öcalan and said:“Everyone is asking why Devlet Bahçeli, who wished for our death a year ago, is now reaching out to us today. Some point to the balance in the Middle East. But what truly brought us here is the relentless resistance and effort of the Kurdish people. This process is a process created by our people and their friends. We did not rely on hegemonic powers; we always believed in ourselves. The Peace Mothers suffered for years but never defended the war. The foundation of our struggle is equality, justice and living together. Despite oppression and hardship, our struggle has grown.”
We have the strength to reach from the Black Sea to the Aegean
Bayındır drew attention to the parliamentary commission’s visit to Abdullah Öcalan, emphasizing that this was a historic development, and said: “For the first time, the state is taking a Kurdish leader as its basis and going to him. There are those who want to disrupt this process, but we are the guarantee of this process. Our voice must now rise more strongly. In the past, we were blocked everywhere; now we have the strength to reach from the Black Sea to the Aegean, to Central Anatolia.”
Bayındır addressed the debates expressed by politicians and in the public sphere. He said: “Those who talk about the Demirtaş agenda do not say that they are the ones who imprisoned him. They speak of Mr. Öcalan, but he is still in Imralı. They talk about our language, yet they take no steps.”
Bayındır concluded his remarks by calling on the public to ensure that the process is understood correctly and said: “Let us follow this process through our own sources, our own journalists. The strong participation in this gathering is an important indication of how the process will unfold.”
