The Kurdistan Human Rights Network published its annual report on the situation of women in Eastern Kurdistan on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
According to the report, two women were executed and 30 women, 5 of whom were under the age of 18, were murdered in different cities in Eastern Kurdistan between November 25, 2024, and November 25, 2025.
Nine female political prisoners jailed in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan were sentenced, and two of them still face the threat of execution.
The report stated that 23 Kurdish women were detained during the year without any charges being brought against them, solely on the grounds of their participation in civil, literary, political, and professional activities and meetings.
On the other hand, 15 Kurdish women were subjected to imprisonment, death penalty, deportation, forced retirement, and judicial and administrative penalties.
The report stated that five Kurdish women who had previously been sentenced to imprisonment were sent to prisons in the cities of Urmia and Sine to serve their sentences.
