Shots were fired at people who took to the streets in Homs and Latakia in protest at the recent wave of violence in Homs.
In Latakia, the Alawite community staged a protest at Ziraa Junction against the escalating violence and attacks in Homs. After a group of young people attacked the protesters with stones, shots were fired at the protesters, injuring some of them.
Similarly, in Homs, a group attacked protesters with sticks and knives. During the demonstration, in which many were reported injured, direct fire was opened on the crowd.
Following the attacks on protesters, military movements by government forces are taking place in all cities and districts under the control of the Transitional Government.
