Parliamentary commission issues statement after visiting Imrali

The Commission for National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy issued a written statement following its meeting with Abdullah Öcalan.

Confirming that the meeting took place, the commission’s statement read as follows: “Since its first meeting on 5 August 2025, the Grand National Assembly’s Commission for National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy has convened 17 times and carried out hearings with relevant parties. At its 18th meeting on 21 November 2025, a qualified majority decided that Abdullah Öcalan should be heard at Imralı Prison. In line with this decision, the delegation went to Imralı Type F High Security Closed Penitentiary Institution on 24 November 2025.

In this context, detailed statements were taken regarding questions on Abdullah Öcalan’s Peace and Democratic Society Call made on 27 February, the organization’s subsequent announcement of its dissolution and disarmament, as well as the implementation of the 10 March agreement in Syria. As a result of the meeting, positive outcomes were achieved in terms of advancing the process for social cohesion, strengthening brotherhood, and developing a regional perspective.

The Commission will continue its determined and resolute stance toward achieving its goals in the upcoming period.
