Lenin Prize laureate philosopher Therborn: Öcalan is the Mandela of our time

Lenin Prize–Winning Philosopher Göran Therborn sent a message of support for the Peace and Democratic Society Process in Turkey, saying the following:

“Abdullah Öcalan, the Leader of the Kurdish People, has issued a call for peace at a time when warmongering is running rampant across the world. There is no doubt that Öcalan is the Mandela of our time. If it works out, he would be a worthy Nobel Peace Prize winner. The Kurdish people feel a rightful pride in having such a leader. I have learned that the committee formed within the Grand National Assembly of Turkey will meet with Öcalan in the coming days. This is a historic moment not only for the Kurds but for the entire world. I fully support Öcalan, who views the democratic and peaceful resolution of the Kurdish Question as part of the international socialist struggle.”
