Ugandan historian Mahmood Mamdani sent a message of support for the Peace and Democratic Society Process in Turkey.
In his message, Mamdani stated:
“A peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish question will be a major gain for the Kurdish and Turkish peoples. From this point of view, Kurdish leader Öcalan’s rejection of armed struggle and his advocacy of democratic negotiation is an opportunity for the region. Peace in Turkey will be a regional and global gain. I fully support your struggle for peace and democracy.”
Mahmood Mamdani is a Ugandan scholar, historian, and political theorist. Known for his work on colonialism, ethnicity, state violence, and citizenship, Mamdani has taught at numerous universities.
