Sîpan Hemo: Afrin will be one of the key topics in future negotiations

A comprehensive meeting was held in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood with the participation of councils, communes, institutions, political parties, Kongra Star, and residents of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods.

Speaking at the meeting, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) General Command member Sîpan Hemo provided a thorough assessment of the political situation.

Hemo evaluated the latest developments and political changes in North and East Syria and the region, as well as their impact on the future of North and East Syria. He also highlighted the important role of institutions in addressing security and service-related issues.

Referring to the 10 March agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government, Hemo stated that they remain committed to the agreement and continue their efforts to achieve a comprehensive political solution that protects the rights of all communities. He emphasized that peace and democracy are strategic choices and noted that the issue of Afrin will be one of the key topics in future negotiations and agreements.

Hemo stressed that the people are the cornerstone of any process of change and called for community organization to achieve freedom and democracy. “We are supporters of peace. We will make every effort to preserve this path,” he said.

Sîpan Hemo also highlighted the important role that the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods have played in defending the principles of the July 19 Revolution, saluting the resistance of the people. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between civil councils and security forces in order to establish peace and protect society.
