The National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission will convene on Friday with the agenda of visiting Abdullah Öcalan.
The DEM Party Central Executive Board (MYK) met in Ankara to review the assessments made by the coordination body it formed for the possible visit.
The meeting will discuss the recent statements by MHP Chair Devlet Bahçeli (who said: “if no one is willing to participate in this visit, I will take three colleagues with me; I would not hesitate to go to Imrali, nor would I refrain from sitting at the table face-to-face”), and the evaluations of other parties regarding those statements.
In addition, the guerrilla forces’ decision to withdraw from the Zap region to prevent provocations, the on-the-ground effects of this move, and the state’s subsequent responsibilities will be extensively debated.
The MYK agenda also includes the legal arrangements required by the process, the work carried out by the party’s law committees, and the debates arising in the ongoing discussions of the 2026 Central Government Budget Proposal in the Parliament’s Planning and Budget Commission.
The results of the “We Want Peace Because…” campaign, launched by the party on September 1, World Peace Day, and lasting two and a half months, will also be evaluated.
In addition, the negative effects caused by the non-implementation of the European Court of Human Rights’ violation ruling regarding Selahattin Demirtaş and other politicians are also on the MYK’s agenda.
