Special voting for the 6th term parliamentary elections in Iraq took place on November 9, while general voting took place on November 11. The turnout rate for special voting was announced as 82.4%, while the turnout rate for general voting was announced as 56.11%.
The Federal Court of Iraq announced in a statement on Monday that it had dissolved the Iraqi parliament and government.
The Court noted that the Iraqi government would continue to function as a provisional executive body, while the President of Iraq would continue to serve as part of the executive branch.
According to the Iraqi Constitution, Parliament will convene within 15 days after the election results are confirmed, and the Speaker of Parliament and Deputy Speakers will be elected. Parliament will then elect a President within 30 days, and a Prime Minister will be elected within at least 70 to 120 days.
