22 operations carried out against ISIS in Syria in October

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its forces and partners in Syria conducted 22 operations against ISIS cells last month.

According to CENTCOM, between 1 October and 6 November, joint task forces carried out operations in which 5 ISIS members were killed and 19 were captured.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) conducted 6 security operations against ISIS cells in North and East Syria during October. In these operations, 79 ISIS members, including 2 cell leaders, were arrested. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also seized.

CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that they have neutralized the ISIS threat in Syria and will continue to track ISIS cells in cooperation with the International Coalition.

Cooper, speaking in a meeting last September, emphasized the importance of repatriating displaced persons held in the Hol and Roj camps in North and East Syria, noting that the population in these camps had dropped from 70,000 to under 30,000.

He added that returning vulnerable groups from the camps before they become radicalized is not only a humanitarian duty but also a way to prevent the resurgence of ISIS.
