According to local sources, a civilian has been killed by mercenaries allied with Turkey in the Afrin region in northern Syria. The incident occurred in the village of Sinara in the district of Jindires.
According to reports, Mistefa Mihemed Îso, a Kurd living in the village of Qermitliq, was taken to the nearby village of Sinara by members of a Turkish-backed militia under the pretext of settling a debt. There, he was beaten to death in an olive grove and then buried on the spot.
Afrin has been under the occupation of Turkey and allied militias since their war of aggression in 2018. Since then, human rights organizations have repeatedly reported systematic attacks on the civilian population, including kidnappings, extortion, torture, arbitrary killings, and the expropriation of property, especially in rural areas.
