As part of the ongoing campaign against terrorism and the ISIS organization and its attempts to rebuild its clandestine networks, Special Operations Teams (TOL) of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in direct coordination with the International Coalition, carried out a precise security operation yesterday inside Hol Camp. The operation resulted in the arrest of the ISIS senior leader, Baha al-Maseeri, known as Abu Abdulrahman, an Iraqi national.
According to SDF Media Center, the operation came after extensive and long-term intelligence work, including deep penetration of the organizational structures and covert cells operating inside the camp. “Our forces verified that the detainee played a central role in reactivating ISIS cells, coordinating ideological and military recruitment, as well as manufacturing and preparing explosive devices intended to be smuggled out of the camp to target civilians, our forces, and public institutions, aiming to sow chaos and undermine stability.”
The SDF stated that the mission of the captured terrorist was to rebuild ISIS’ operational infrastructure inside the camp and turn it into a hub for planning and managing cells operating beyond it. Therefore, his capture constitutes a decisive blow to the organization’s operational capabilities and a critical step in dismantling its communication and funding networks, it added.
The Syrian Democratic Forces affirmed that, “Hol Camp will not be allowed to become a space where terrorism thrives, nor will we permit the suffering of displaced families to be exploited as a cover for breeding a new generation of violence.”
SDF said that their strategic coordination with the International Coalition continues through systematic plans aimed at uprooting the organization and transforming the liberated regions into areas of lasting security and stability.
The SDF statement underlined: “Protecting our people is a sacred duty and a non-negotiable principle. We will continue to defend civilians by all legitimate means, ensure safety for the vulnerable, and prevent any attempt to turn human suffering into a refuge for terrorism. Anyone who threatens the lives of our people and the future of our children will face the united will of society and the force of law and security on the ground.”
