The 2nd Martyr Nagihan Akarsel Festival, organized by the Jineology European Committee, with the goal of expanding the legacy of Nagihan Akarsel is bringing together internationalist women from many countries around the world. Akarsel opened a new field of resistance focused on women’s reality and women’s science.
The first day of the festival took place at the Ararat Kurdish Cultural Center in Rome. During the event, Akarsel’s book Kül Kokusu (The Smell of Ash), translated into Italian, was presented, and songs inspired by her struggle and resistance were performed.
Today, the second day of the festival, a rich cultural program will take place. The events will feature songs in Kurmanji, Gorani, Dimilki, Italian, and Spanish, as well as a musical theater piece dedicated to Nagihan Akarsel and various artistic performances.
