Another Kurdish activist sentenced to prison in Iran

Branch 102 of the Criminal Court Two in Dehgolan, Kurdistan Province, has sentenced Kurdish civil rights activist Mohammad Rezaei to one year in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the state”.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) has reported that Rezaei, who is a member of the Nozhin Socio-Cultural Association in Dehgolan, was tried some time ago and was recently formally notified of the ruling.

According to the Nozhin Socio-Cultural Association, Rezaei, who is from Sanandaj in Kurdistan Province, was arrested without a warrant in Dehgolan on 12 July 2025, and was provisionally released on bail of eight billion rials (almost 8,000 USD) after spending 55 days in detention.

The association, which focuses on teaching the Kurdish language voluntarily in various cities across Kurdistan, has been repeatedly targeted by security forces in recent years, with several of its members being summoned, detained and sentenced to prison terms.
