The Cizîr Canton Council of Martyrs’ Families held its annual meeting at the Zana Hall in Qamishlo, North-East Syria, under the slogan, “We will build a democratic, peaceful, and communal society in the spirit of the martyrs and the philosophy of Leader Öcalan.”
The meeting was attended by members of the North-East Syria Council of Martyrs’ Families, representatives of the Autonomous Administration, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Democratic Union Party (PYD), and the Council of Martyrs’, Veterans’, and Prisoners’ Families.
Following a moment of silence, Rîham Mele, a member of the Council of Martyrs’ Families, read out Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan’s perspective on the martyrs.
Speaking after, Aldar Xelîl, member of the PYD Cizîr Canton Co-Presidency Council, assessed the political situation, stating, “We are serious about the success of the March 10 Agreement, but the transitional government is prolonging the process and shirking its responsibilities.”
Regarding the “Constitutional Declaration,” Xelîl said, “The constitution must be amended, the rights of all components of Syria must be guaranteed, and the principle of coexistence must be implemented. In addition, the Kurdish issue and the problems of all components in Syria must be resolved, and they must take on a leading role in the region.”
Xelîl continued: “On this occasion, we emphasize the need to strengthen the principles of democracy and the unity of all peoples and societies. This is the only way to achieve peace and social stability in Syria and the region. The blood of the martyrs has been shed to establish a free and democratic system that guarantees justice and freedom, secures women’s freedom, and protects the dignity of all societies without discrimination.”
Xelîl concluded: “Through our unity and common will, we can build a future of brotherhood and shared life, free from fragmentation and domination.”
After the speeches, the Council’s annual report was read in Kurdish and Turkish. The meeting ended with a final declaration.
