Germany shuts down the ‘Muslim Interaktiv’ association

The German Interior Ministry announced that the association called “Muslim Interaktiv” has been shut down on the grounds of conducting activities against the constitutional order.

The ministry said it had determined that the Muslim Interaktiv association had called for a caliphate, rejected women’s rights, and spread hate speech against Israel.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt said, “Muslim Interaktiv rejects the principles of democracy and the rule of law. We will not allow such organizations to attack our free and democratic society.”

Following the decision, police raids were conducted at seven separate addresses in Hamburg in the morning.

It was stated that the association, founded in 2020, conducted ideological propaganda rejecting state authority by reaching a wide audience through social media.

In the same context, raids were carried out on 12 addresses linked to two associations called “Generation Islam” and “Realität Islam” in Berlin and Hesse. These associations are also alleged to spread radical ideologies in a similar manner.

Germany has increased pressure on radical religious networks in recent years due to the rise in jihadist-motivated attacks and intensifying anti-immigrant debates. In 2021, the Ansaar organization, accused of financing radical groups under the guise of aid activities, was banned.

Following the arrival of hundreds of thousands of refugees from Syria and Afghanistan after 2015, debates on immigration and security intensified in Germany, with the far-right AfD party experiencing a significant surge in votes during this period. The new government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz has sought to curb this rise by tightening immigration policies.
