According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), forces affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government detained 10 civilians in the village of Akrad al-Dasiniyah. Among the people detained was also the owner of the area’s only bakery. It was not clear where the detained people had been taken to.
Reports indicate that due to the bakery owner’s arrest, more than 4,000 residents of the village and surrounding areas have been unable to obtain bread for two days. This has further worsened living conditions, while no explanation has been given for the arrests.
Recently, the Interim Government’s forces have detained and abducted civilians in various Syrian cities. Most recently, they kidnapped “Adnan Y,” the former head of the Criminal Security Branch of the old regime in Latakia. Adnan had recently returned from Lebanon after resolving a security dispute with his former associates.
Meanwhile, in the village of Reblé in the Qusayr countryside west of Homs, two armed men on a motorcycle opened fire on Jon al-Iroti this evening, seriously injuring him.
Local sources reported that the attack occurred in front of the victim’s house and that the attackers fled the scene. The injured man was taken to a hospital for treatment.
