The left-wing Your Party, recently founded in the United Kingdom by Zarah Sultan and Jeremy Corbyn, held its opening meeting in London with the participation of the Kurdish People’s Assembly, which represents the Kurdish diaspora in Europe.
Party leaders and Assembly representatives met and exchanged messages of solidarity with the Kurdish people’s struggle for freedom.
During the meeting, Corbyn said: “I want to state that I have always stood with the Kurdish people and their just struggle.” He added that he would soon visit Kurdish institutions and thanked the Kurdish People’s Assembly for supporting the event.
About Your Party
Corbyn argues that under the current Labour Party leadership of Keir Starmer, the party has shifted toward the center, even center-right, and no longer represents the traditional left. For this reason, he says Your Party aims to revive core leftist values.
The new party’s agenda focuses on radical left policies such as fighting poverty and inequality, opposing war policies, taxing the rich more, nationalization, and redistributing wealth.
Corbyn’s stance of solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Kurdish freedom struggle is also said to have influenced the creation of this new party.
Your Party is expected to gain significant momentum in next year’s local elections in London and in the post-Labour political landscape.
