The DEM Party’s Imrali Delegation went to see Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali on Monday. This morning, the delegation released the following statement:
“On 3 November 2025, we held an extremely positive meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali Island, which lasted about three hours. His health and morale were quite strong. In summary, he made the following assessments during the meeting:
To advance the current process, it is necessary to take history and sociology more seriously. It is important to recognize that the Turkish-Kurdish relationship has endured for a thousand years as two foundational pillars. The unity between these two pillars must be strengthened by recognizing, understanding, and repairing them.
We should not act by drawing rigid lines but by forming a broader vision that also encompasses our current issues.
Under limited circumstances, we are making a serious effort for a historical matter. We are striving to develop a positive phase, not a destructive or negative one. The Kurdish phenomenon must be included in the Republic’s legality in all its dimensions, and for that, a strong transition process must be established. Entering legality as a holistic phenomenon will solidify the legal foundations of the Democratic Republic.
The opportunity for democratic integration that we currently face is both local and universal. To move into a positive phase, it is vitally important that everyone acts with sensitivity, seriousness, and a sense of responsibility during this process.
With respect.”
