Excitement is mounting ahead of the event, which is expected to turn into a mass gathering with the participation of the Kurdish people and their friends. Following Abdullah Öcalan’s call on 27 February and the historic steps taken by the Freedom Movement, the Kurdish people have actively joined the process of building a democratic society. TEV-ÇAND considers this march a national duty and has been working to prepare for it for days.
Artists gathered in Cologne
On 2 November 2025, a group of TEV-ÇAND artists came together in Cologne to assess preparations for the march. Representatives of cultural organizations from France, Germany, and Switzerland also attended the meeting. Participants decided to launch a broad cultural mobilization to ensure strong participation in the march.
Abdullah Öcalan’s freedom is the freedom of culture and art
TEV-ÇAND artists will join the Cologne march as a special group under the slogan “Öcalan’s Freedom Is the Freedom of Culture and Art.”
The statement said: “Culture and art reflect the spirit of the people’s resistance. The freedom of Abdullah Öcalan will open the way not only for the Kurdish people but also for the freedom of art, thought, and expression.”
At the end of the meeting, the artists and cultural representatives called on people in Europe to take part strongly in the 8 November march.
The statement emphasized: “This historic march will be the meeting of the peoples’ will for freedom. Everyone should be present in the streets with their own colors, voices, and cultures. Let’s all march together for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.”
