CDK-F calls for presence in Cologne march to demand Öcalan’s freedom

The Democratic Kurdish Council in France (CDK-F) took to the streets in Paris ahead of the “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Status for Kurdistan (Kurdistan)” march to be held in Cologne, Germany on 8 November. CDK-F members carried out postering and information work across the city.

Posters hung in the streets of Paris featured photographs of Abdullah Öcalan, and the poster campaign received strong interest from Kurdish shopkeepers.

Following the action, a joint call was made by the CDK-F and the Congress of Kurdish Communities in Europe (KCDK-E). The Kurdish call was delivered by KCDK-E Board Member Murat Ceylan, while the Turkish call was delivered by CDK-F Dimensions Council Member Murat Fırat.

We will show our historic stance once again

Murat Ceylan emphasised the importance of the physical freedom of Öcalan for peoples and for women and said: “In the person of Abdullah Öcalan, we too have been held captive for 27 years. But through resistance we foiled this conspiracy. Now is the time for  Öcalan’s freedom. His freedom is the freedom of the Kurdish people, of women, and of humanity. On 8 November in Cologne, we will show this stance once again.”

Kurdistanis and friends must be in Cologne

Murat Fırat, a member of the Dimensions Board of the CDK-F, also addressed the Kurdish people and their friends in Europe, and said: “Mr. Öcalan’s freedom is the freedom of the peoples. The ability of young people to look to the future with hope depends on this. On 8 November in Cologne, we will speak to the world together.”

Artists must also join the march

Saniye Tunç, Co-Chair of the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Centre and a theatre artist, called on artists and said: “On 8 November we invite all honourable patriotic Kurds to Cologne for the freedom of Mr. Öcalan and Kurdistan.”
