Qubad Talabani: The problem with salaries remains unresolved

Qubad Talabani, Supervisor of the electoral campaign of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) List 222 in the Hewler (Erbil) constituency, said: “I regret to say that the problem with salaries remains unresolved, and what has been addressed so far is temporary. This issue will resurface by the end of the year,” he stated. Some have already urged Mr Bafel to travel to Baghdad to seek a solution.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the 16th electoral district of Hasarost in Rostbasim Valley, Qubad Talabani emphasised that: “The fact that Mr Bafel and the PUK can address the issue even with just 18 seats demonstrates clearly that, with greater representation and influence in Baghdad, the PUK can achieve significant outcomes.”

He added, “I said two years ago that the disputes between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad cannot be resolved through half measures.” The PUK maintains that all relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad should be settled through comprehensive, strategic measures.

He further stated: “Accordingly, the PUK is working to resolve the issues of salaries, the budget, and all other related matters within the framework of a comprehensive, long-term agreement, and calls on both the federal and regional governments to implement the Constitution in full, article by article.”
