Deir ez-Zor Military Council adopts new measures to strengthen security and confront ISIS

The Deir ez-Zor Military Council held an expanded meeting with the participation of brigade commanders, military councils, and the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).
The meeting discussed recent security developments in the region, mechanisms to counter ISIS, and challenges facing stability in Deir ez-Zor.

Participants evaluated the current security situation and discussed ways to enhance combat readiness. They also developed new plans to strengthen coordination between military councils and field units in order to counter the terrorist organization’s cells, thereby improving the council’s overall security and military performance.

The meeting concluded with a set of practical decisions aimed at raising the efficiency of fighters and military leadership.

These included the launch of advanced training and qualification programs to improve the combat and tactical capabilities of fighters, the establishment of new mechanisms to enhance intelligence work and information sharing between brigades, military councils, and the YPJ, as well as the development of leadership and administrative capacities within the councils to ensure higher readiness in facing security challenges and protecting vital infrastructure.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deir ez-Zor Military Council reaffirmed that combating ISIS terrorism and maintaining security and stability in the region remain its top priorities. The Council stressed the continuation of joint efforts among brigades, military councils, and the YPJ until all security threats are completely eliminated.
