Autonomous Administration system to be included in school curriculum

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazira (Cizîr) Canton in Northern and Eastern Syria organized the 1st Communes Conference of Jazira Canton under the slogan “Establishing communes is the foundation of a democratic and free society.” The conference was held in the Azadî Park Hall in the city of Qamishlo with the participation of 600 delegates. It has now concluded.

Abdullah Öcalan’s perspective, the place of communes in the Social Contract of North and East Syria, and the political situation were discussed. The situation of communes in Jazira Canton is now being evaluated.

The evaluation of commune activities was completed, and Aldar Khalil, a member of the Presidential Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), shared his assessment of the conference.

Aldar Xelîl said: “This conference is the result of your years of effort. A commune is not an organization or a political party; a commune means gathering together. Loving one another is the solution to social problems. Our people are not distant from the idea of communes. Today, through communes, we are trying to restore our social life. When the state was established, the life of communes was disrupted. We want to show our people that there is a life beyond the state. However, our minds still operate according to the state system. We need to overcome this.”

The Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of Jazira Canton, Hesen Shero, said that the people have paid a great price for freedom and that their struggle will continue until Öcalan’s physical freedom is achieved.

The final declaration of the conference was read in Kurdish and Arabic by Hesen Shero and Ariya Mele Ahmed, Co-Chair of the People’s Assembly of Jazira Canton.

The final declaration of the Communes Conference of Jazira Canton stated the following points:

1. Suitable places should be provided for commune activities.

2. Based on the perspective of Abdullah Öcalan, the Autonomous Administration has an essential and necessary role, as it serves as the foundation for efforts to serve society.

3. Since the commune is the foundation of the Autonomous Administration, its institutions must respect the work and activities of the communes.

4. Communes should be supported, and cooperative projects should be developed through economic committees.

5. The recruitment of employees to the Autonomous Administration should receive approval from the communes, as the communes know the people.

6. All institutions must respect the decisions of the communes, provided that they are consistent with the Social Contract.

7. All employees of the Autonomous Administration, especially on Commune Day (Saturday), are required to participate in the work of the commune committees to help solve problems.

8. Educational sessions should be opened for all commune members to raise awareness about communes and communal organization.

9. The Autonomous Administration system should be included in the educational curriculum of schools in the region.

According to information obtained from Autonomous Administration officials, commune conferences will be held in the Euphrates (Fırat), Deir ez-Zor (Dêrazor), Tabqa, and Raqqa cantons in November. By the end of November or the beginning of December, a general Communes Conference will be organized for all of North and East Syria.
