At least 15 detained in operation against socialists in Istanbul and Antalya

At least 15 people were taken into custody during simultaneous police raids in Istanbul and Antalya on Tuesday. According to the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), several of its members and supporters are among those detained.

The reasons for the operations carried out by the so-called anti-terror police remained unclear. No official information was initially available from the authorities.

The taken into custody in Istanbul include Tarık Tepeli, Sinan Akkuş, Gökhan Atan, Mahsuni Yılmaz, Ahmet Eten, Mustafa Taylan Savran, and Tuncay Mat.

The ESP strongly condemned the operation, calling it “a targeted attack on its political work.”

“These attacks will not deter us from our struggle for the rights of the working class and oppressed peoples,” said the party and demanded the immediate release of those detained.
