March in London to demand freedom for Öcalan

A march will be held in London on Sunday, 2 November, to demand the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and a democratic solution to the Kurdish question.

Organized under the slogan “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, Democratic Society and Peace,” the march will start at 1 p.m. in front of the BBC building and continue to Trafalgar Square.

The event is being organized by the Jiyan Women’s Assembly, the Kurdish People’s Assembly in London, and the Revolutionary Youth Movement (Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger–TCŞ). The organizing committees are carrying out extensive preparations to ensure broad participation in the march.

Through home visits, information stands, and meetings with allied institutions, all segments of society are invited to attend the demonstration.

Women who began preparations months in advance said they were inspired by Öcalan’s philosophy of “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” (Woman, Life, Freedom) and issued a call for mobilization. Emphasizing the principle that “a society cannot be free unless women are free,” they stated that they will lead the demonstration from the front lines.

Call to the British government

Filiz Dersim, spokesperson for the Jiyan Women’s Assembly and the organizing committee, also issued a call to the British government and stated: “We have not forgotten the political games that have continued for centuries. We call on the British government: either play your role in favor of a solution or withdraw your hand from our people’s honorable struggle. Without the freedom of Öcalan and without guaranteeing the Kurdish people’s equal and dignified life, true peace will not be possible, neither in Turkey nor in the Middle East.”
