Kongra Star released a statement expressing solidarity with the women activists and feminists of Abya Yala who have long protested against the attacks of the Ecuadorian government. The organization saluted the actions of women demanding their legitimate rights and the resistance of the struggling people.
The statement was read by Rohilat Muslim, spokesperson of Kongra Star’s Education Committee, in front of the 12 March Stadium in Qamishlo.
The statement said: “From the heart of our women’s struggle, we express our solidarity with the women and peoples of Abya Yala in their struggle for life and dignity. As Kongra Star, we raise our voices to support our sisters on the Abya Yala continent and the struggles of the peoples in Ecuador who reject the neoliberal and colonial approach that reproduces oppression and violence, responding to the call of the women and indigenous peoples of that land for a just national strike.
From the perspective of our women’s resistance in Rojava Kurdistan, we follow what is happening in Imbabura Canton, in the capital Quito, and in other cities of Ecuador. We strongly condemn the militarization and systematic repression of protesters by the state, particularly against indigenous peoples and women who stand at the forefront in defense of life, land, justice, and dignity.”
The statement added: “We consider the actions of Daniel Noboa’s government, deploying thousands of soldiers, besieging the capital, raiding hospitals and neighborhoods, and denying access to healthcare, as crimes against humanity and as state terror directed at people demanding a free and dignified life.
The decision of the Ecuadorian National Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities (CONAIE) to call for a national strike is not only legitimate but also a historical necessity in the face of hunger, exploitation, and environmental destruction. The marginalized peoples are not making impossible demands — they are making clear and just ones.”
Kongra Star condemned “the mass arrests, the use of toxic gas against children, and the repression of communities rising up to defend themselves.
We hold the Ecuadorian government fully responsible for the crimes it has committed against peaceful protesters. We salute the struggles of the Quechua, Caranqui, and all indigenous women who stand at the forefront of resistance and embody the true meaning of strength and dignity. Their resistance inspires us and reminds the world that revolution begins with the land, with our bodies, with mothers, and with women.
As Kongra Star, we reaffirm our commitment to stand with the women and the resisting people of Abya Yala. We call on the international community, women’s organizations, democratic and ecological movements, and social movements around the world to raise their voices and stand in solidarity with the people of Ecuador and with all those fighting for justice and freedom.”
