The 1st International Environmental Conference (Eco Kurdistan), organized by the Biology Department at Sulaymaniyah University, has begun.
The two-day conference will address issues such as environmental pollution, climate change, water resource management, and the protection of biodiversity.
Within the scope of the conference, numerous panels and academic research presentations will be held on environmental issues in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Students will also participate in the event with an exhibition they have prepared to draw attention to environmental pollution and share their proposed solutions.
Rêzan Omer, a faculty member at Sulaymaniyah University and one of the conference organizers, stated: “As the Biology Department, we organized an international conference to raise awareness about environmental issues and develop solutions. The event will address the effects of environmental pollution, climate change, water resource management, and proposed solutions related to nanotechnology. Additionally, panels will be held on the shared social responsibility in environmental protection.”
Eco Kurdistan is the first international conference on the environment in South Kurdistan.
The main objectives of the conference are biological conservation, sustainable management of water resources, development of ecotourism, and finding lasting solutions to climate change.
