Berdan Öztürk, one of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Amed (Diyarbakır) MPs, was sentenced by the Ağrı 1st High Criminal Court to 6 years and 4 months in prison.
The verdict hearing was held on Friday in the case opened by the Ağrı 1st High Criminal Court as part of an investigation launched by the Ağrı Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2016. While DEM Party MP Berdan Öztürk did not attend the hearing, his lawyer was present.
The court panel ruled to sentence DEM Party MP Berdan Öztürk to 4 years and 6 months in prison for “aiding a terrorist organization” and 1 year and 6 months for “terrorist propaganda.”
