Calls increase for Freedom Rally to be held tomorrow

Preparations for the “Democratic Society and Freedom” rally, to be held in Êlih (Batman) on October 12, continued throughout the day. The rally, organized by the Democratic Institutions Platform, was supported by Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır and Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MP Gülderen Varlı, Mehmet Rüştü Tiryaki, and Ferit Şenyaşar. During the activities held on Diyarbakır Street, the city’s busiest avenue, participants chanted slogans such as “Biji Serok Apo” (“Long live Leader Öcalan”) and “Jin, jiyan, azadî” (“Woman, life, freedom”).

As part of the preparations, participants also visited Abdullah Yılmaz, who was released on October 5 from Izmir Kırıklar Type F No. 2 Prison after 30 years of imprisonment. The efforts later continued across several neighborhoods in the city.
