Young people in Maxmur hold workshop on peace and democratic society manifesto

Under the leadership of the Maxmur Youth Movement (TCM) and the Maxmur Young Women’s Movement (TJCM), a workshop on the Peace and Democratic Society Manifesto was held in the Martyr Rustem Cudi Refugee Camp in Maxmur with the slogan “History is not the war of classes, but the war of states and communes.”

The workshop, held at the Maxmur People’s House, began with an opening speech by Pınar Bayar, a member of TJCM. Bayar drew attention to the concepts of the commune and the state emphasized in Abdullah Öcalan’s Peace and Democratic Society Manifesto and said: “The concepts Abdullah Öcalan emphasized most are the commune and the state. His statement, ‘History is not the war of classes, but the war of states and communes,’ tells us a great deal. In this context, as youth movements, we wanted to organize a workshop for young people.”

Participants read and discussed Abdullah Öcalan’s perspectives on communes and the state, followed by a video presentation on the concept of communes.

The final declaration of the workshop, read by TJCM member Axîn Gökalp, included the following statements: “As young people, we embrace the historical process initiated under the leadership of Abdullah Öcalan. In this context, we organized a workshop under the slogan ‘History is not the war of classes, but the war of states and communes’ to discuss how we, as youth, can take a leading role in this process.

Evaluations were made on the subject. The content of the workshop focused on the concepts of commune and state, and valuable discussions were held. The state continues to organize itself in all aspects during this period.

Especially for young people, the role and mission within the democratic society system are to work with the spirit of groups and communes. Undoubtedly, understanding the truth of one’s own history is the way to shape life. The history of the Kurds clearly shows that they have organized themselves through communes. This communal organization has protected the Kurdish people from many attacks.

On this basis, the first duty and responsibility in organizing communal life lie with women and youth. As the Leadership says, ‘One who does not have a commune is not my comrade.’ This statement of the Leadership must be taken as fundamental, and communes should be organized at the neighborhood level. At the same time, the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan will remain the foundation of all our work.”

The workshop concluded with the slogan “Bijî Serok Apo” (“Long live Leader Abdullah Öcalan”).
