The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that units of the Damascus Interim Government have been systematically shelling the Tishrin Dam and surrounding areas with heavy weapons since Wednesday morning.
According to a statement from the SDF Press Center, the bombardment carried out with tanks and field artillery directly hit the dam’s structure, while workers’ housing and nearby villages were also struck.
The statement said the attacks posed a serious threat to civilian lives and exposed vital facilities to “a catastrophic danger.”
The SDF stressed that these attacks are a clear violation of ceasefire agreements and held the Damascus Government responsible for all consequences. The statement also warned that the “right to legitimate self-defense” would be exercised.
