According to reports, the Democratic Kurdish Community Center in Draguignan was raided by police. Six people, including one co-chair, were detained during the raid while searches were being conducted.
Those detained include Osman Sönmez, co-chair of the Democratic Kurdish Community Center, Kurdish Community Center People’s Assembly employees Şahin Al Ördek, Erdal Çelik, Şenol Karadağ, and Rıdvan Al Gemi. The name of one person could not be determined.
In a statement, the Draguignan Democratic Community Center protested the police operation, calling it “incomprehensible and unacceptable.”
The Community Center called for an immediate end to the criminalization of the Kurdish people and their institutions, and urged Kurds living in Draguignan to defend the association’s premises.
