The Iran Human Rights Association said that on 10 September a woman called Jamileh Azizi, held in Qarchak Varamin Prison, died under suspicious circumstances.
According to information received by the Iran Human Rights Association, Jamileh Azizi had long been suffering from a severe illness and extensive body swelling. However, for more than ten days, prison officials prevented her transfer to the infirmary, and she apparently died as a result of being denied medical treatment.
This happened despite the fact that her bail had already been secured, and she was expected to be released soon. Her family and relatives have held prison authorities directly responsible for her death.
