In many cities of Kurdistan, actions are being organized for the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. Under the slogan “We march for freedom for Abdullah Öcalan’s right to hope,” Kurds taking to the streets are demanding that the necessary legal regulations be enacted for Öcalan’s freedom and right to hope.
Residents of Amed who joined the “right to hope” march spoke to ANF.
“The demands of the Kurds must be met, Abdullah Öcalan must be free”
Meryem Temiz, saying that they were out in the squares for the demands of the Kurdish people and for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, said: “The Kurdish people must rise up now. We want this bloodshed to stop. We are struggling for Abdullah Öcalan Our cause is the cause of language, culture, and identity. We are fighting for brotherhood. Our only wish is for peace. I am the mother of a martyr. I want this bloodshed to stop. Mothers must not cry anymore, the four parts of Kurdistan must become one.”
“The right to hope must be implemented immediately”
Abdülhamit Şaloy, stressing that the “right to hope” must be implemented without delay, said: “Abdullah Öcalan is being held in prison unjustly and unlawfully. We do not accept this illegality. The ‘right to hope’ exists in European laws. The Turkish state recognizes these laws but does not implement them. How does the European Union accept this? Necessary sanctions must be applied against Turkey. The Kurdish people want the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan and expect steps to be taken for this. The right to hope is a human right.”
“Abdullah Öcalan is the existence of the Kurdish people”
Numan Gökarar, saying “Abdullah Öcalan is the existence of the Kurdish people,” stated: “Since the prophets, no one like Abdullah Öcalan, a person, a pioneer, has come into the world. Abdullah Öcalan looks after the interests of peoples. He is a reason for existence for us. Abdullah Öcalan is a philosophy for us. We want all the guerrillas to mix with the people, and for Abdullah Öcalan to meet with the people and be free. We are in the squares for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan. We will do whatever we can.”
“The address of peace is Mr. Öcalan”
Dilan Çetin, emphasizing that they are struggling for Abdullah Öcalan’s physical freedom, said: “As someone who works in the field of the Kurdish language, we want the freedom of Mr. Öcalan. We are fighting for the demands of the Kurdish people to be met. Mr. Abdullah Öcalan is the main architect of the peace process. Therefore, he must be free for both Kurdistan and the peoples of the Middle East. For these lands, the address of peace is Mr. Öcalan. We will demand the freedom of Mr. Öcalan until our last word.”
