The Military Council of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), held its regular meeting with the participation of the commanders of military councils from across the regions and affiliated military institutions, attended by the SDF Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, and members of the General Command.
During the meeting, the SDF Commander-in-Chief reviewed the latest political and military developments in Syria in general, and in North and East Syria in particular. He affirmed the continuation of negotiations with the Damascus government in accordance with the provisions of the March 10 agreement, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the existing ceasefire and avoiding provocations designed to drag the region back into conflict.
The meeting addressed several internal and organizational files, including the proposed integration project within the Syrian army. It underscored the SDF’s readiness for dialogue and negotiation with Damascus and the immediate coordination with the relevant committees. The meeting reiterated the inclusive national character of the Syrian Democratic Forces, which encompass fighters and factions representing all components of North and East Syria, as well as other regions of the country.
Regarding the ongoing war against the ISIS terrorist organization, the meeting noted the noticeable increase in ISIS terrorist activities in several areas of North and East Syria. It reaffirmed the determination to continue combating terrorism, to strengthen cooperation with the International Coalition to ensure ISIS’s ultimate defeat, and to enhance protection measures for detention centers holding its members.
Domestically, the meeting resolved to issue a general amnesty for those who failed to report to their military posts, opening the door for them to regularize their status. It also addressed various other matters aimed at enhancing the training and overall effectiveness of the forces.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the SDF Military Council reiterated its unwavering commitment to a political solution as the only viable path to ensure Syria’s stability and the safety of its people. It stressed the importance of safeguarding security and social peace in North and East Syria, guaranteeing the rights of all components on the basis of coexistence. The Council also renewed its commitment to continuing the fight against terrorism in coordination with international partners, thereby contributing to stability and advancing the path toward a comprehensive peace in Syria.
