Nobel Peace Prize laureate and former political prisoner Narges Mohammadi condemned the attack by prison guards on the ward of political women prisoners at Karchak Women’s Prison. She said that the assault was deliberately carried out ahead of the third anniversary of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” uprising, and added: “There are women in that prison held in captivity; they give meaning and depth to struggle, resistance, and life. These women are not afraid of the attacks by the officials of the Islamic Republic.”
Recently, on the orders of prison director Soghra Khodadadi, many male and female guards raided the women’s ward. The raid was thwarted as the political women prisoners resisted with slogans.
Mohammadi said: “With this attack, the Islamic Republic wants to intimidate women prisoners and take revenge on this movement.”
She also emphasized that these days the people of Iran are commemorating both the killing of Jina Amini and the executed and oppressed prisoners.
