KNK: Jin, Jiyan, Azadî has become the global torch of freedom and change

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Executive Council issued a statement marking the third anniversary of the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” [Woman, Life, Freedom] uprising. The statement said that the slogan, which rose from the streets and squares of Rojhilat Kurdistan three years ago, quickly became the common voice of freedom demands in Iran and inspired millions worldwide.

The KNK noted that the slogan was born out of the suffering, oppression, and cries of the oppressed segments of society in Rojhilat and Iran, stating: “This voice, with its hope and courage crossing borders, resonated in Iran and across the world.”

The statement stressed that the movement, led by women and young people, opened a new path against dictatorship and oppression, recalling that women fought against clothing and behavioral restrictions as well as political exclusion, while young people resisted unemployment and inequality. These conditions, the KNK said, drove women and young people courageously into the streets, inspiring both Iran and global societies.

The KNK added: “Today, on the third anniversary of this uprising, we see that ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’ has become a bridge uniting Kurds, Persians, Baluchis, Arabs, and all the diverse peoples of Iran; it has become a global common language around the demand for justice and freedom.”

The statement also noted that this movement was an important experience for all segments of the Iranian people against repressive regimes, while in Rojhilat Kurdistan it showed that the people could make their voices heard with unity and determination.

The KNK underlined that they saw this anniversary not only as a commemoration of the past but also as a new beginning: “The unity of women and youth will carry the message of this movement to the whole world. Defending the rights of peoples is one of the main duties for the continuity of this revolution.”

The statement concluded by stressing that “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” is not a simple slogan: “It is a torch of change, a spark that tears through the darkness and ignites the construction of a free and democratic society.”
