Internal Security Forces detain 61 people in raids in Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor

The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) have arrested a total of 61 people in large-scale security operations in Raqqa and the western outskirts of Deir ez-Zor. According to an official statement on Monday, those arrested are suspected of being involved in terrorist activities, organized crime, or drug trafficking.

According to reports, the raids were carried out in recent days by various special units, including the anti-terrorism forces (HAT), the drug squad, and the department for combating organized crime.

During the operations, large quantities of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and various drugs were seized, including crystal meth, hashish, Captagon, and other narcotics. Mines, drug paraphernalia, and numerous weapon magazines were also confiscated.

The security forces stated that they had encountered resistance during some of the operations, but that the operations had been completed “professionally and precisely”—without any casualties on their side.

According to reports, those arrested were handed over to the judiciary of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES). The measures are part of a comprehensive security plan that specifically targets the hideouts of wanted persons, the statement added.
