The “Bloquons tout” (Let’s block everything) protests held across France spread to hundreds of locations nationwide. Hundreds of thousands joined the demonstrations, demanding President Macron’s resignation.
Blockades and protests took place at numerous locations, from the Paris ring road entrances to the intersections of major cities such as Rennes and Nantes, as well as at high schools, universities, and workplaces.
Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced that 80,000 security personnel, as well as armored vehicles and helicopters, had been deployed across the country.
According to the Ministry of Education, nearly 100 high schools were affected, 27 of which were completely blocked. By morning, 295 people had been arrested nationwide, including 171 in Paris alone. As of 11:00 a.m., 430 protest actions had been recorded; 273 of these were marches and 157 were blockades.
Fires broke out at 105 different locations across the country, leaving four police officers with minor injuries. In Ardennes, two vehicles were burned beyond repair, while in Charente, a telecommunications pole was set on fire.
Tens of thousands of people marched in Marseille. According to the CGT union, participation was around 80,000, while organizers put the number at 30,000 and the prefecture at around 8,000. The march, which brought together students, retirees, and workers, moved through the city center.
Large marches will also take place throughout the day in cities such as Paris, Montreuil, Strasbourg, and Montpellier.
