IDPs from Serêkaniyê protest against ‘illegal property sales’ by occupation forces

The Council of Serêkaniyê Refugee Camp, located in the Hesekê countryside of the Cizîrê Canton, issued a press statement regarding the crimes committed by the occupying Turkish state and affiliated mercenary groups.

Dozens of camp residents and representatives of various civil society organizations joined the action and denounced the illegal attempts to sell the property and land of the forcibly displaced Kurdish citizens.

Council member Senaa Ehmed Hisên, who read the press statement, said that the aim of these attempts is to change the demographic structure and history of the Kurdish, Syriac, Assyrian, and Arab peoples.

The statement stressed that any sales or rentals made under occupation conditions were invalid, and reported that Turkish state flags, symbols of the Urfa Governorate, and Pakistani flags were displayed at civil society centers run by Turkish intelligence and mercenary groups in the occupied cities.

Condemning Turkey’s aggressive policies, the IDPs made the following appeal to international organizations: “Fulfill your legal and humanitarian responsibilities, end the occupation, and take measures for the safe return of migrants.”
