According to data compiled by Rojnews, three women were murdered by men in the Kurdistan Region in August, while five women died under suspicious circumstances.
The incidents of violence against women were recorded in the cities of Sulaymaniyah, Ranya, Hewlêr, Qarqurne, Dukan, and Zakho. Among the murdered women was academic Gizing Kamil Mecîd.
In the first seven months of the year, a total of 18 women were murdered in the region, 12 women died under suspicious circumstances, five women were injured, and two women were driven to suicide.
Additionally, 4 female teachers and activists in Sulaymaniyah were subjected to violence by security forces.
