In a desperate attempt to sow chaos and destabilize the region—coinciding with the recent escalation of ISIS attacks—armed groups affiliated with the Damascus government launched an attack on a military post of the al-Kasra Military Council in the town of al-Junaynah, Deir ez-Zor’s western countryside, using BKC machine guns and a drone.
In a statement about the attack, the Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said their fighters courageously repelled the attack and responded to the sources of fire, inflicting confirmed casualties on the attackers. Five SDF fighters were wounded in the clashes.
“We, the Syrian Democratic Forces, reaffirm that such treacherous attacks will not deter us from fulfilling our duty. We hold the Damascus government directly responsible for the actions of these groups and call upon it to immediately rein in its members and cease these aggressions immediately,” said the SDF statement.
