Two SDF fighters martyred in ISIS attack in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside

The Press Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that two ISIS terrorists riding a motorcycle targeted one of the SDF’s military vehicles with machine gun fire at approximately 8:00 PM on Wednesday.

The attack resulted in the martyrdom of two heroic fighters who were carrying out their duty to preserve security and stability in the town of Al-Bahra, in the Hajin area of eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

“Despite the challenging conditions under which our forces operate, this terrorist attack will not weaken our resolve in pursuing the remaining ISIS sleeper cells. We regard this act of terrorism as a desperate attempt by ISIS to demonstrate its presence following the recent military pressure it has endured,” the SDF said.

The statement continued: “This terrorist attack is part of ISIS’s ongoing efforts to destabilize the security and stability in areas our forces have liberated from the grip of terrorism. The martyrdom of these two fighters is a painful reminder of the immense sacrifices made daily our forces in their mission to protect the Syrian people and secure their regions.”

The Syrian Democratic Forces said they continue to intensify efforts to pursue ISIS terrorist cells and ensure security across northern and eastern Syria. “We are also working to strengthen coordination with local security forces and the international community to confront this growing threat. Our security operations include gathering intelligence, increasing the frequency of patrols in targeted areas.”

The SDF extended their deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the heroic martyrs, who gave their lives in defense of their homeland. Their sacrifices will not be forgotten, and we will continue our mission to establish safety and peace across all our regions, it underlined.

The SDF affirmed that our forces remain committed to their pledge and will not hesitate in relentlessly pursuing the remnants of the ISIS terrorist organization until they are completely eradicated.

“We believe that victory is near, and the sacrifices of our martyrs will yield a safe and stable future for our people,” the statement concluded.
