At least 28 women and 3 children killed in Turkey in July

Based on data compiled from news reports in the media by JINNEWS, 28 women and 3 children were killed in Turkey in July. In addition, 25 women died under suspicious circumstances.

According to the report, 9 of the murdered women were killed by their husbands, 1 by her father-in-law, 1 by her brother, 6 by their partners, 1 by her son, 2 by acquaintances, 3 by relatives, 3 by ex-husbands, 1 by a former partner, and 1 by the husband she was in the process of divorcing from.

The highest number of femicides occurred in Istanbul (5), Amed (Diyarbakır) (3), and Mersin (3). In addition, femicides were also reported in Amasya, Antalya, Zonguldak, Samsun, Ardahan, Ankara, Malatya, Bartın, Eskişehir, Muğla, Izmir, Maraş, Denizli, Edirne, Adana, and Hatay.

The report highlighted that attacks have increased in cities like Istanbul, Amed, and Mersin, and that violence against women has become organized and systematic.
