The people of Suwayda want Damascus forces to leave the city

Hundreds of citizens gathered in the southern Syrian city of Suwayda and demanded that forces affiliated to the transitional government withdraw from the region.

At a protest organized by civil society organizations in Al-Karama Square, protesters strongly condemned the government’s policies of repression and denial.

Protesters carried banners demanding an end to the Syrian transitional government’s embargo on Suwayda and the opening of a humanitarian corridor with Jordan.

The people emphasized that the transitional government’s presence in Suwayda was contrary to the will of the people and called for these forces to leave the city immediately.

Demonstrators also denounced the “Committee to Investigate the Truth” established on July 31, stating that the committee is not transparent or independent. They demanded that a genuine investigation into the human rights violations and crimes committed be launched and that those responsible be brought to justice.
