Mazlum Abdi talks with French Foreign Minister

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot held a conversation with Mazlum Abdi, commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), on Friday following his discussions with the Syrian Minister for Foreign Affairs and the US Special Envoy for Syria.

According to a statement by the French Foreign Ministry in Paris, the topics discussed included the planned negotiations between the SDF and the Syrian transitional government, which are to begin shortly in the French capital.

“This exchange provided an opportunity to confirm that a round of negotiations between the Syrian transitional authorities and the Syrian Democratic Forces will soon be held in Paris, under the auspices of France and the United States, with a view to implementing the March 10 agreement. The Minister reiterated France’s support for the definition of a negotiated and peaceful solution for the unification of Syria, the integration of the population of northeastern Syria into the political transition process, and the guarantee of the rights of the Kurds,” the Ministry said.
