A delegation consisting of family and civil society organization representatives set off for South Kurdistan to collect the bodies of free press workers Nazım Daştan and Cihan Bilgin, who were killed by a Turkish drone while covering news in Rojava last 19 December.

The delegation, which included Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Mardin Deputy Kamuran Tanhan, Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) representatives, Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) members, civil society organization representatives and families, went to the Habur Border Gate in the Silopi district of Şirnak on 6 January.

The delegation has been held up at the border gate since then. The District Police Chief said: “It is not a problem for us, we are waiting for news from Ankara.”
